A bill would prohibit tanning salons from allowing teens under 18 to tan, without consent from a doctor.

State lawmakers on Monday will debate whether to ban teenagers from using indoor tanning beds.

The public health committee will vote on the bill, which would prohibit anyone under 18 from using indoor tanning beds unless they have a note from a doctor.

The legislation would fine anyone who allows a teen to use a tanning bed up to $100.

Supporters said the bill will help cut down on skin cancer risks, which critics said it will encourage teens to use unregulated home equipment
