Dad Arrested After 2-Year-Old Drives Car

Police arrested Oscar Chicas after his 2-year-old daughter managed to put his running vehicle in drive.

West Hartford police arrested a man on Saturday after his 2-year-old daughter managed to put a car into drive and hot parked cars.

Police said Oscar Chicas, 33, left his daughter alone in a running car n the parking lot at 140 Kane Street.

The child somehow put the car into drive and slammed into two parked cars, causing minor damage, police said.

Chicas was found a few feet away, working on a disabled vehicle with his brother at the time, police said.

The child was not injured.

The state Department of Children and Families was notified and the child was left with her uncle, who was at the scene.

Chicas was charged with risk of injury to a minor and is being held on a $15,000 bond.
