Boy Scout Leader Charged With Sex Assault Goes to Court

Mark Alexander is accused of sexually assaulting two boys over several years.

A Rocky Hill man will be in court on Friday to face 47 charges in connection with the sexual assault of two boys.

New Britain police arrested Mark Alexander, 33, last month. Court papers say he was an assistant Boy Scout leader accused of abusing two boys between 2000 and 2006 at his house and on Scout camp-outs.

Police began investigating Alexander in November, 2011, according to investigators.

He is accused of multiple incidents of sexual abuse involving two juveniles who were between the ages of 10 and 16 when the alleged abuse occurred, police said.

Police served a search warrant on Alexander's home last month and seized digital evidence. The New Britain Police Department's Digital Forensic Unit examined evidence.

Alexander was charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault, 19 felony counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, 21 counts of risk of injury to, or impairing the morals of children by sexual contact, one count of risk of injury to, or impairing the morals of children, and four counts of employing a minor in an obscene performance.

Police also filed one misdemeanor charge.
