Police Investigate Illegal Dumping in Enfield

Enfield police are investigating a case of illegal dumping.

Several large items, including a mattress, TV, and sofa, were dumped in the area of Asnuntuck Street and North River Street, near the railroad bridge.

Seeing trash dumped on the side of the road is aggravating for neighbors and impacts quality of life.

"When they see garbage like this it kind of deters, and for us as residents on this street it makes it look blightish," said resident Jim Sperrazza.

Police said the town is exploring the possibility of adding cameras in the area.

The Department of Public Works will remove the trash, and police have increased their supplemental two-man walking patrol from a typical weekend basis to a daily basis in an effort to address the issue.

Anyone with information on who left these items is asked to contact Enfield Police Officer Nuno at enuno@enfield.org or 860-763-6400 ext. 1300.
