State police have charged a woman with arson after fire broke out at her apartment early this morning.

Dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a fire alarm at 385 Putnam Pike at 4:52 a.m. and several departments were sent to respond.

Crews saw smoke coming from the eves of the building and found the renter, Carol Lynn Holden, 56, in a bedroom.

The state police fire explosion investigation unit was brought in to investigate and determined that Holden started the fire, state police said.

She was charged with arson, criminal damage of landlord's property in the first degree and second-degree breach of peace.

She is being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond and is due in court on July 15.
