A sultry weather pattern produced very high levels of heat and humidity across Connecticut Saturday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Litchfield, Hartford, Middlesex, New Haven, and Fairfield counties earlier today because of the high heat and humidity.

A high temperature in Windsor Locks of 93 degrees was recorded which fell short of the daily record, but in Bridgeport a temperature of 94 degrees broke the record for the day.

Severe thunderstorms impacted Windham County Saturday afternoon as well with reports of trees town in Pomfret and Sterling. More strong to severe thunderstorms are possible late Saturday night as a cold front approaches from the west.

With the brutal summer weather people the National Weather Service is urging people to drink plenty of water, stay in air-conditioning, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
