Suspect in Red Door Bar Attack Found Hiding in Refrigerator

A man found hiding in a refrigerator on Wednesday morning is the fifth suspect in a violent attack at the Red Door Bar in Watertown in March, according to police.

Police said they found Jamar “Styles” Smith, 31, of Waterbury, hiding in the refrigerator at his girlfriend’s home around 6:30 a.m.

Three people were hospitalized after the attack at the Red Door Bar early on the morning of March 15 and police released security camera photos of three men and three women suspected of being involved in the incident. http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/3-More-Suspects-Charged-in-Stabbing-at-Watertown-Bar-296919921.html

Police said on Wednesday that Smith is suspected of stabbing another male in the chest during a fight in the bar.

Officers took him into custody and transported him to Watertown Police Headquarters, where he was charged with criminal attempt at murder, assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree and breach of peace in the second degree.

He was held on a $500,000 bond and is due in Waterbury Superior Court today.

Four other parties were previously arrested in connection with the assault including Smith’s girlfriend, Kelly Hernandez.
