2 Hartford Coffee Shops Transform into Luke's Diner from ‘Gilmore Girls'

Two Hartford coffee shops were transformed into Luke’s Diner, the iconic meeting spot from the show "Gilmore Girls," for six hours on Wednesday.

Metro Café on Farmington Avenue and Peter B’s Espresso on Summit Street were two of 200 independent coffee shops nationwide partnering with Netflix for Luke’s Coffee Day, in honor of the 16th anniversary of the show’s first episode.

Netflix announced earlier this year that "Gilmore Girls" would be revived with the show's original cast.

As fans know, coffee was a central part of the lives of Lorelai and Rory Gilmore, and rarely an episode went by without a visit to Luke's Diner in the center of town.

Luke's Diner was open from 7 a.m. until noon and each temporary Luke’s included décor from the show and offered "Gilmore Girls" goodies to customers who showed up.

The "Gilmore Girls" show was set in Stars Hollow, Connecticut, a fictional town show creator Amy-Sherman Palladino has said is based off the real-world Washington Depot in northwestern Connecticut.

"I never thought I would ever have my little piece of Stars Hallow, but I guess that dream finally came true," Maddie Archur-Burton, of Minneapolis, said.
