Uber Users and Drivers Lobby Connecticut Senate to Pass Bill

The ride-sharing company Uber is reaching out to thousands of users and drivers, asking them to contact Connecticut senators and urge them to pass legislation in the waning hours of the sessions that creates a new regulatory system.

Uber sent out a message on Tuesday through its app, expressing concern that the bill's fate could be in jeopardy as the General Assembly's midnight adjournment deadline on Wednesday fast approaches. There are several proposed amendments to the bill that Uber opposes.

Uber said it needs "our senators to vote for the House version" of the bill, which the company said will "ensure Uber can stay in Connecticut" and drivers can "continue earning a better living."

The House bill includes insurance requirements for drivers, background checks and other requirements.
