Whenever President Donald Trump leaves the White House for a weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort or golf course in New Jersey — he's spent 19 weekends away from the White House so far — there's a massive military effort to keep the skies above him safe.

The "Today" show took a rare look inside the Air National Guard's operation to defend presidential airspace from rogue aircraft.

"Today" cameras captured a drill in which two F-16s scramble to intercept a Cessna that entered a presidential no-fly zone. One of the fighter jets executed a "head butt" maneuver, part of a procedure that goes as far as shooting planes.

"If required, we will execute the rules of engagement per commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command," said U.S. Air Force Col. Bradford Everman, operations group commander for the New Jersey Air National Guard’s 177th Fighter Wing.
