A man's body was found in the wheel well of an airplane at Dulles International Airport Saturday afternoon.

Airport officials say a ground crew assigned to the South African Airways aircraft found the body at 1:30 p.m. in the landing-gear wheel well. The Airbus A340 was parked in a remote parking area at the airport.

According to Tlali Tlali, a spokesperson for South African Airways, Flight SA 207 landed at Dulles on Wednesday from Johannesburg. The plane made one stop in Dakar, Senegal.

"We regret any loss of human life and are deeply concerned about the suspicious circumstances surrounding this incident..," Tlali said in a statement.

The body, which has not been identified, has been turned over to the Fairfax County Medical Examiner.

The investigation is ongoing.

Officials say airport operations were not impacted.
