Gov. Continues Education Tour in Bristol

Gov. Dannel Malloy will stop in Bristol on Tuesday night to promote his overhaul proposals.

Gov. Dannel Malloy will stop in Bristol on Tuesday night to promote his overhaul proposals as he makes his 13th stop on his statewide education tour.

Malloy and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman are scheduled to meet parents, teachers and others at an hour-long town hall-style meeting at Memorial Boulevard Middle School.

This session, the Democratic governor has been pushing an education reform package that includes measures to expand access to early childhood education, change teacher tenure and close the state's achievement gap.

Despite the looming legislative session deadline of May 9, the modified bill is currently being discussed in closed-door meetings at the state Capitol.

Large crowds have turned out to discuss the governor's proposals and their effects at previous meetings.
