Drivers with a lead foot are paying the price this holiday weekend.  Connecticut State Police have given out over 900 tickets for speeding since Wednesday.   And the number of drunk driving arrests shot up Friday night.

Here's the tally from Wednesday through Saturday morning:

  • 909 Speeding
  • 522 Seatbelt
  • 51   DWI
  • 933 Hazardous Moving Violations
  • 246 Accidents

Police expect traffic on the roads to pick up again Sunday as many people return home from the long weekend.  Troopers are patrolling in marked and unmarked cars and even using aircraft to catch dangerous drivers.
