Fire Starts in Empty Condo

Firefighters battled a fire in just after midnight in the Cromwell Hills condo complex that broke out in a vacant unit.

No one was injured, but single-digit temperatures made the fire a brutal one. Equipment froze and firefighters had to be very careful.

Firefighters were concerned about the fire spreading because there are eight attached units where the fire broke out.

Westfield, Rocky Hill and East Berlin were called for mutual aid. The fire is under investigation by the fire marshal office.
