UConn Women's Basketball coach Geno Auriemma is known for having a recipe for success on the basketball court, but now he will sell his special recipe pasta sauce at Stew Leonard's supermarkets.
The sauces are based on recipes from his mother, who is a native of Campania, Italy, Auriemma said.
His all-natural Tomato Basil sauce will hit store shelves March 14. And you'll be able to see Auriemma and three Huskies players at the 3475 Berlin Turnpike store in Newington this month.
On Saturday, March 14, Rita Williams will be at a demo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Williams is a junior at UConn and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the 1998 Big East Championship.
On Saturday, March 21, Maria Conlon will participate in a demo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Saturday, March 28, Meghan Pattyson will be at a demo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. She was the co-captain in the 1991-1992 season and is an analyst on CPTV broadcasts of UConn women's basketball games.
The sauce expands Auriemma’s parlay into the world of food. His Geno's Fast Break Food Court and Pub is at Mohegan Sun Casino.
The sauce will be distributed by Cheshire-based Seafood Gourmet, Inc.
