6/16: Big Tops and Promenade Shops

Who doesn't love the circus?  (I understand if you're afraid of clowns).  You can get all the fun with none of that animal smell (yeah, you're with me) in New Haven starting tonight.

"Circus", a joyous physical production inspired by Federico Fellini's "La Strada" opens tonight at the Yale University Theatre (gotta respect a theatre spelled with the 're).  It's part of the International Festival of Art & Ideas.

The show tells the story of a small-time circus act called Gubu and Harle, who are one man down, but the show must go on!  The high-flying and magical tale promises to be fun for the whole family (bring Grandpa!!).

Circus opens tonight at 8:00 p.m. and there are shows daily through June 20.  Tickets are just $25.

Also in New Haven tonight, you can get into a Jamaican mood at Cafe Nine.

Reggae/Ska band West Rockers will take the stage tonight along with The Duppies.  The best part, there's no cover to get in.  Gotta be 21+.

Hungry? (Me too.)

We've got a pair of ideas to whet your whistle tonight, and they're both in Manchester.

Cavey's Restaurant Upstairs is hosting their Tuesday Night Wine Series. The evening features five wines from the Rhone Valley, each paired with delightful small plates.  The dinner costs $25 per person.  Reservations are required, so call 860-643-2751 to reserve your spot.

Not enough wine for ya?

Head across town to Bellini's at the Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk.

The Italian Eatery is hosting a four-course wine dinner.  And as you eat and drink (and drink some more if you're like me), you can get an education in wine from an expert on the subject.  The Wine Dinner is $39.95 per person, and again, call ahead.  Reservations are a must, and can be made at 860-432-3461.

Enjoy Your Tuesday Night!
