What You're Doing Tonight: May 4

There's probably a Monday cliche that I could throw out here, but let's get right to it.  All business, no Garfield.

It may be May (may/May, I kill me!), but it'll be October in New Haven tonight.

Blue October is taking the stage at Toad's Place.  The band earned a platinum album for their 2006 album, "Foiled."  I've even heard of one of their songs, "Hate Me".

Tickets are $25 at the door, and the show starts at 8:30.

Break out your beret, shades and get that soul patch groovin' all you hep cats.

It's Beatnik 2000 night at Cafe Nine in New Haven.  The event includes solo acoustic performers, including bands and spoken word artists.

We're counting down to Cinco de Mayo.  Here are 'dos' events to whet your whistle.

In Hamden, Aunt Chilada's gives you Margarita Monday's.  Every Margarita is $1 off, and all pitchers are $5 off.  Plus there's happy hour specials from 4-7 p.m.  But here's my favorite part: Margarita Monday lasts from 11 a.m. until 1 a.m.  Now that's what I call a fiesta!

And back in New Haven, you can probably get a margarita, but it's the tequila that's taking center stage at 116 Crown

Starting at 6 p.m., you can sip and sample some of the best tequilas around, like Sauza Hornitos Plata, El Tesoro Reposado, Tres Generaciones Anejo and El Tesoro Paradiso Ultra Anejo.  Where's the Cabo Wabo?  Sammy Hagar is the Rodney Dangerfield of the tequila world.  But I digress.

Anyway, the tequila will be tasted neat and in a cocktail, each paired with food items from 116 Crown's unique menu.

The tequila tasting costs $39 and you need a reservation.  So call 203-777-3116 or head to their website.

So there you have it.  Don't let anybody accuse you of having a case of the Mondays!
