GE to Add Power in Iraq

General Electric has inked a deal to sell power-generation equipment to Iraq

The $3 billion deal will help the country repair its failing electricity grid.

The Fairfield-based company will supply Iraq with 56 heavy-duty gas turbines, capable of supplying 7,000 megawatts of electricity.  That's enough power for about 5.4 million homes.

The added turbines will more than double Iraq's power generation of 6,000 megawatts per day.

General Electric is the parent company of NBC 30.
