Police ID Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing Woman in Bethel

Police have identified the man who is accused of fatally stabbing a woman in Bethel on Saturday.

Officers were called to a home on Plumtrees Road around 1 a.m. after getting a report of a stabbing.

When officers arrived, they said they found a woman in the home suffering from several stab wounds.

Paramedics rendered first aid and the woman was transported to Danbury Hospital, where she later died her wounds. Authorities have not released her identity.

Within minutes of officers arriving to the home, police said the suspect, later identified as 34-year-old David MacDowell, came to the police department and spoke with a dispatcher.

According to police, MacDowell was later arrested and charged with manslaughter pending further investigation. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond and will be in court on Monday.

The incident remains under investigation.
