Two people are in custody after reports of an armed person in Hartford, which led to lockdowns at two schools, and police have recovered a gun and dozens of rounds of ammunition.

Lockdowns were put in place at the Richard J. Kinsella Magnet School of Performing Arts and the Sport and Medical Sciences Academy as a precaution because the incident was in the general area, according to police. Those lockdowns have been lifted.

Police said two people are in custody and one gun as well as dozens of rounds of ammunition were recovered.

They added that the arrests were not made on school property and the incident appears not to have anything to do with the schools other than happening in the general area

Police posted a photo of the gun and ammunition they recovered on Twitter. They said neither of the two individuals arrested had gun permits.
