2 Trapped After Crash Involving Tow Truck on I-95S in Fairfield

Fairfield firefighters rescued two people who were trapped in vehicles after an accident on Interstate 95 south Friday night.

Fire officials said that they were called to the area of I-95S between exits 19 and 18 around 10:15 p.m. When they arrived they found a multi-vehicle accident. One person was trapped underneath a AAA tow truck and another was stuck inside a commercial truck.

The victims were rescued and taken to the hospital for treatment. Their conditions are unknown, fire officials said.

It appears the tow truck had stopped to help another driver on the side of the highway when the crash occurred. Connecticut State Police are investigating.

Fairfield fire officials remind drivers of the Move Over Law, which requires drivers to slow down and move over if possible for emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
