Crash Closes Route 4 in Farmington

The road could be closed for hours, according to the DOT.

Route 4 in Farmington is closed between Brickyard Road and West Avon Road due to a tractor-trailer accident.

The truck hit a utility pole around 4 p.m., according to police.

Police are detouring traffic up Brickyard Road and West Avon Road. Route 4 may be closed for as long as 8 hours, according to the Department of Transportation website.

The downed pole has cut power to more than 470 Connecticut Light & Power customers, according to CL&P spokesman Mitch Gross.  The power company has crews on the scene working on the problem, Gross said.
