Cromwell Superintendent to Announce Football Coach's Discipline Amid Hazing Probe

The Cromwell superintendent will hold a press conference Tuesday to announce disciplinary action taken against the town's high school football coach in light of hazing allegations involving the team.

Superintendent Dr. Paula M. Talty will address the consequences coach Chris Eckert is facing at noon Tuesday, according to a news release sent on behalf of the school district.

A district source told NBC Connecticut last week that Eckert has been placed on administrative leave while authorities investigate the case.

It comes after police arrested a 16-year-old player and charged him with hazing and breach of peace.

Police said the teen struck four freshmen teammates with a belt in the locker room before practice late last month, leaving them with welts.

The victims' parents reported the incident, according to police.

Tuesday's press conference will take place at 9 Captain James Mann Memorial Drive.

Eckert has not returned multiple requests for comment.
