DSS to Complete Irene Fraud Investigation Tomorrow

Ninety state employees are going through disciplinary hearings and state officials have sent 98 applications to the state Office of Labor Relations.

By the end of the workday on Wednesday, the state Department of Social Services will have reviewed all cases of state employees accused of fraudulently obtaining storm-related benefits offered to low-income residents, Gov. Dannel Malloy said on Tuesday.

Of the 800 employees investigated, eight state employees have left since the investigation began. Four were terminated while four left on their own, Malloy said.

Of the state employees who applied, 686 employees did so appropriately, Malloy said.
