Hamden DMV Closed for Rest of Month

The branch office will be closed for upgrades to the building.

If you planned on going to the Department of Motor Vehicles branch in Hamden before the end of the month, you’ll need to head to another branch instead.

The Hamden branch is closed through July 30 to finish making upgrades to the building.

A temporary trailer has housed the Hamden DMV since February and employees started moving chairs and equipment from the trailer to the building on Tuesday morning.

If you need a full-service branch office, you could visit the branch in Old Saybrook at 7 Custom Drive, in Bridgeport at 95 Sylvan Ave. or the branch in Wethersfield at 60 State St.

If you just need to renew your license, you could use a AAA office. Check the DMV website at ct.gov/dmv for AAA and other DMV offices.

The inspection lane at the Hamden office closed as of Oct. 30 and remains closed.

Starting July 30, live customer representatives won't be able to answer your calls on Saturday. DMV officials blame budget cuts. Representatives will be available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
