Ice Cream Truck Sales at Wapping Fair to Benefit Daisy the Ice Cream Lady After Crash

A Stratford Springs ice cream truck is filling in at the Wapping Fair in South Windsor for an ice cream truck lady and fair regular injured in a crash two months ago on Interstate 91 in Hartford and raising money to help her.

Nana's Ice Cream employees announced on the company's Facebook page that their friend, Daisy Gonzalez, who has had an ice cream truck at the fair for 36 years, asked them to fill in for her as she recovers from the crash.

They've proclaimed Sunday Daisy Day. They're selling everything for $1 and donating all the proceeds to Daisy.

There will be a get well card at the ice cream stand for customers to "leave their well wishes for Daisy."

Gonzalez was involved in a crash on Interstate 91 southbound in Hartford on July 5th. The truck rolled over into its side, leaving it beyond repair.

According to a "Daisy The Ice Cream Lady" GoFundMe website raising money to replace her ice cream truck after totaling hers in the accident, Gonzalez has worked as an ice cream lady since 1979, always charging just one dollar for the tasty treats.

The "Daisy The Ice Cream Lady" fundraising page has already raised over $23,000 of the needed $25,000 to help replace the truck of Daisy Gonzalez.

Her truck is best known along the shoreline, though she does make stops all across the state.

Family and friends set up the fundraising site to help off set the costs of replacing the truck, inventory and to help with Gonzalez's medical bills.
