Fire Crews Find People Sleeping in Box Truck

State police are assisting local police in the investigation.+

Officials are investigating what they are calling a suspicious fire in a box truck in Putnam.

When crews responded to the fire at a box truck filled with hay at 2 Buck St around 4 a.m. on Thursday, they found two people sleeping in a nearby trailer and a truck driver sleeping in his cab, which was also close to the fire.

No one was injured, officials said. 

Investigators are following several leads, but have made no arrests.

Officials said the Providence & Worcester Railroad owns the property.

Officials told NBC Connecticut that the fire marshal and police are investigating the possibility of arson.
