Metro-North Customer Survey Results Released

The Metro-North Customer Satisfaction Survey given out in June, about five weeks after the train derailment in Bridgeport that affected the New Haven line, found that overall, customer satisfaction remains high.

The survey, however, was conducted before the Con Edison power failure that significantly curtailed New Haven line service in September.

Of the more than 5,000 train passengers were surveyed, 88 percent reported overall satisfaction with the New Haven line. According to the survey, 26 percent were very satisfied, and 62 percent said they were satisfied.

Passengers also reported higher satisfaction with the line’s new M8 model trains due to better cleanliness and more comfortable temperatures on board.

“I've been for two or three years now, and it's been a pretty decent ride, but the ride was really uncomfortable during that um, that time when it went down. It cost me a lot of time at work,” said Selvin Smith of New Haven, a passenger at Union Station.

“I'm not that satisfied. I think the train ride is one of the worst experiences to go into New York, for me anyway, just because it takes so long,” said Matan Bik of Hamden, another passenger.
