Officers Might Be Disciplined Over House Crash

Quintell Penn was behind the wheel when the car slammed into a New Haven home, police said.

Three Hamden police officers might face discipline for a high-speed pursuit in January that ended with the suspect's car crashing into a house in New Haven and

landing on top of a sleeping man

.

The New Haven Register reports

that disciplinary cases against the three officers were revealed on Wednesday night during a meeting of Hamden's Board of Police Commissioners. The officers' names weren't disclosed and it's not clear when the board will take up the cases.

Police said the officers chased an SUV driven by Quintel Penn into New Haven on Jan. 31.

Penn's vehicle smashed into a house in New Haven and landed on Michael Sweat, 34, who was injured but survived. Penn was later arrested.

Police said Penn was hiding in a closet in an apartment at 25 Ward St and attempted to cover himself with debris in the closet to hide from officers.

Police commissioners will determine if the officers violated the department's pursuit policy.
