Troopers are investigating after a woman died in a car crash in Guilford early Saturday morning.

The incident took place on Interstate 95 North at around 4:30 a.m., according to police.

A car veered off the road at the Exit 57 off ramp. The car continued through the grass area until it hit a small embankment off the highway, police said.

The car continued into the wooded area and down a large embankment before hitting multiple trees and coming to a final, uncontrolled stop, police said.

Police said the car then caught fire.

The driver walked to a nearby gas station to report the crash, according to police. That passenger was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with minor injuries and is expected to be OK.

The body of 25-year-old Remy Johnston was found in the passenger's seat, according to police.
