Police Find Stamford Man's Body Under Boat

The man's body was found on Sunday under his boat at Stamford Landing.

Stamford police are investigating the apparent drowning of a 68-year-old city man whose body was found under his boat after friends reported him missing.

Officials told The Advocate of Stamford that state police divers found the man's body on Sunday afternoon under his boat at a private marina at Stamford Landing. His name is being withheld until after police notify his relatives.

Police Lt. Diedrich Hohn said the man was reported to have fallen off his boat in a separate incident a week earlier.

The Advocate reports that the man’s personal assistant went to his condo on Wednesday, saw the lights on and the boat keys missing and that the man’s girlfriend reported him missing on Saturday when she came home from a trip.

The man's friends reported him missing on Wednesday.

Hohn said investigators will be looking at the man's personal life and recent credit card usage.

The chief medical examiner's office has scheduled an autopsy for Tuesday.
