Police Investigate Scissor Stabbing

A woman is in critical condition at Hartford Hospital after she was stabbed in an alleged domestic dispute Friday night.

Manchester Police responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at the apartment building at 158 Forrest Street around 8:30 p.m.

Witnesses told police they believed the victim was stabbed several times while in Apt. 716, but then fled to the lobby area of the apartment building.

The suspect, Edward Leonard, 29, chased the woman out of the apartment and was able to attack her again, according to police.

Several people witnessed the attack in the lobby and at least one person tried to intervene, but Leonard lunged at the bystander.

The woman was rushed to Hartford Hospital.

Leonard had injured to his hand and was transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital for treatment and psychological evaluation, according to police.

Upon release from the hospital, Leonard will be charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault and Unlawful Restraint.
