Schick Employees Credited With Saving Coworker

Emergency crews said the coworkers acted quickly in an emergency situation.

Employees of the Schick plant in Milford helped save one of their coworker’s lives by acting quickly on Monday and performing CPR, according to police.

Employees called 911 at 2 p.m. on Monday to report an employee was in cardiac arrest at 10 Leighton Road and that CPR was underway.

Emergency crews quickly responded and found the patient in the middle of the manufacturing part of the plant.

Coworkers had already administered CPR and two shocks from an automated external defibrillator by the time emergency crews responded, according to the Milford Fire-Rescue Department.

From there, paramedics started advanced life support and an ambulance brought the patient to the emergency room at Milford Hospital.

When the employee arrived, he or she had a pulse of 54 and blood pressure of 124/73. On Tuesday, the person was transferred to St. Raphael’s Hospital in an improved condition.

“The Milford Fire Department would like to recognize the Schick co-worker’s early actions and activation of 911 to the positive outcome of this call. CPR, early defibrillation and early advanced life support make a difference,” the Fire-and-Rescue Department said in a release.
