Former State Worker Charged With Larceny

He is accused of filing false time sheets for overtime he never worked.

State police arrested a former state employee on larceny charges Thursday.

Authorities began an investigation into Benjamin Quinones, 42, of Westbrook, in February 2011, after the state Department of Mental Health Addiction Services filed a complaint against him. Administrators at DMHAS in Middletown accused Quinones of submitting false time sheets for overtime that he did not work, police said.

Detectives uncovered evidence in the case, and filed for an arrest warrant for Quinones. He turned himself in at State Police Troop "F" in Westbrook Thursday.

Quinones faces first-degree larceny charges. He is scheduled to appear in court March 15.

Quinones was fired last year after the allegations of wrongdoing first arose, according to Jim Siemianowski, a spokesperson for DMHAS.
