Swine Flu Cases Near 200

Looks like it wasn't just a bug. The state Department of Public Health is now dealing with almost 200 cases of swine flu, or H1N1 influenza, in Connecticut. 

The state announced 47 new cases after the latest tests results.

There are probably even more cases in the state but since many victims only have mild symptoms, they haven't gone to the doctor or hospital to be tested, according to the Health Department. The average age of people suffering from swine flu in the state is 16.

So far, swine flu has sent one person to the hospital in Connecticut. The patient was discharged from the hospital and has fully recovered. 

DPH continues to ask residents to take precautions to prevent getting the flu or spreading it by staying home from work or school if they are sick, washing their hands frequently, and coughing or sneezing into their sleeve or a tissue.

The new cases are in: Berlin, Bloomfield, Cromwell, Danbury, East Windsor, Greenwich, Lyme, Mansfield, Naugatuck, New Haven, Norwalk, Prospect, Redding, Ridgefield, Simsbury, Trumbull, Waterbury, West Haven, Weston, Westport and Wilton.
