Komisarjevsky Guilty on All Counts

Komisarjevsky is eligible for the death penalty.

Joshua Komisarjevsky has been found guilty in the murders of a mother and her two daughters while invading their Cheshire home, sexual assault and setting fire to the home while the women were trapped inside.

He has been found guilty on all 17 charges against him, including murder of Jennifer Hawke-Petit, and her daughters Hayley, 17, and Michaela, 11 in July 2007. Six of the charges against him were capital felonies, so Komisarjevsky will be eligible for the death penalty once the penalty phase begins.

Dr. William Petit was beaten during the home invasion, restrained and ultimately broke free. For four years, he has honored the girls' memories through a charitable foundation.

Day after day, he has sat in the courtroom, but this trial was particularly difficult. Komisarjevsky sexually assaulted his youngest daughter and listening to that testimony was painful.

"I've thought 1,000 times, what would be different if I had two sons instead of two daughters," Dr. Petit said.

Now, all that remain are the penalty phase and the sentencing.

Komisarjevsky  was the second man to be tried and convicted in this case. Steven Hayes is on death row for his role in the crimes. He was found guilty on all charges except for arson.
