Westport Police Continue to Investigate Suspicious Death

Westport police are continuing to investigate the death of a man found on Patrick Road on Saturday morning and they are trying to piece together where he was and what he was doing over a period of eight to nine hours on Friday night.

A jogger found Sandokan Kayan Harrell, 39, of Bridgeport, unresponsive at 9:07 a.m. on Saturday and flagged down a passing driver, who called police. The driver and the jogger tried revive Harrell by performing CPR, police said.

Emergency personnel responded and treated Harrell at the scene. Westport EMS then took him to Norwalk Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:56 a.m.

Police have been able to determine that Harrell attended an event at the Arena at Harbor Yard on Friday evening with friends, but it's not clear where he was after 10 p.m., so police want to speak with anyone who saw him after that.

They are also searching for a brown FUBU hooded sweat jacket and black skull type winter that Harrell was reportedly wearing at 11 p.m. Friday.

Police are investigating the death as suspicious and said that they found "no visible signs of trauma."

The medical examiner conducted and autopsy, but the results were inconclusive and officials are waiting on toxicology reports, which could take six to eight weeks.

Wesport police ask anyone who saw anything "suspicious or unusual" near 47 Patrick Road or who had contact with Harrell in the last 24 hours to contact the department at 203-341-6000.
