Don't Let the Bed Bugs Bite

Just the name bed bugs is enough to make your skin crawl and they seem to be crawling all over Enfield.

After getting many reports in the spring and winter, the town is launching a public awareness campaign about the reddish, flat, oval-shaped insects that suck down human blood as you sleep, the Hartford Courant reports.

The creepy crawlies are thought to be most active in the hour before sunrise and usually leave behind a raised red bump or flat welt that itches terribly. The bites might look like mosquito bites but they are linger around a lot longer.

Enfield’s social services director plans to distribute fliers about the insects to home health aids, community health organizations, homeowners and the senior center, the Courant reports.
