Officials Tranquilize Bear That Climbed Tree in Downtown Hartford

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has tranquilized a bear that climbed into a tree in downtown Hartford Friday afternoon.

The bear was in a tree on Chestnut Street for hours and animal control responded to the scene. Police blocked off roads in the area.

Officials from the Environmental Conservation Police and Wildlife Division also responded, according to the agency.

The bear was placed in a truck and will be relocated, according to officials.
