Antiques Show Moving to Massachusetts

CT Expo Center says no to two popular events.

The Connecticut Antiques show is getting a new home.  That new home is over the border in Massachusetts.

This is a first for the popular show in its 39-year history, according to the Hartford Courant. The reason for the relocation is because of the new owners of the Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford. The Haddam Historical society, the host of the antiques show, said the owners rejected the event.
In March, antiques dealers and visitors will have to trek up I-91 to West Springfield, Massachusetts. The Eastern States Expo, which is home of the Big E, will host the popular event.
Terry Smith, co-president of the historical society’s board of directors, told the Courant they looked at 30 sites in Connecticut but none were acceptable.
Changes at the Connecticut Expo Center also mean a popular Art & Crafts Fair won’t be held. Sugarloaf Craft Festivals said on its website that the shows scheduled for November and March have been canceled.
