A Connecticut woman has pleaded guilty to stealing the identities of more than 150 Medicaid recipients, many of which she then used to steal about $1.4 million from the federal program.
Prosecutors say 45-year-old Nikkita Chesney, of Bridgeport, pleaded guilty Tuesday to health care fraud and aggravated identity theft.
Authorities say Chesney worked for a health care provider that provided substance abuse treatment. They say she stole the identities of the provider's clients and used the information to bill Medicaid for psychotherapy services purportedly provided by two other companies. Those clients never received those services.
She faces up to 12 years in prison at sentencing and must also pay full restitution.
She is the sixth person who has pleaded guilty in the scheme.
