Cops Chop Alleged Chop Shop

Naugatuck cops have nabbed the guys they say are behind a Naugatuck chop shop.

They found out about the alleged operation as they were investigating for drugs in May and June at a residence in the 100 block of School Street Extension.

On June 4, cops went to the house, carrying a search warrant, and two pickups just happened to arrive with the guys they were looking for.

In the truck beds, police found not only the suspects but also several car parts from a 1999 Honda Civic that was stolen from 18 Bridge Street in Naugatuck that same morning, police said.

Then, they hit pay dirt – finding another Honda Civic, and 12 motorcycles and ATVs, cops said. Police also said they found marijuana, prescription pills and drug paraphernalia.

Because of the many, many cars, Naugatuck called the Connecticut State Police Auto Theft Task Force to help investigate.

Police arrested Michael Vicente, 21, who lives at the house, was charged with illegal possession of more than 4 oz. of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of narcotics, failure to keep narcotics in the original container and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $30,000 bond.

Matthew Summa, 22, who also lives at the house, was charged with illegal possession of more than 4oz. of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $75,000 bond.

Police said more arrests are expected.
