3 Injured in Vernon Crash

Three people were injured in a crash on a busy road in Vernon on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers said the driver of a van, later identified as 46-year-old Angel Avila, of Bristol, was transported to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar to be treated for serious injuries after the crash on Route 83. He is listed in critical condition.

A passenger in the the van, later identified as 39-year-old Jamie Dugue-Agudelo, of Hartford, was transported to Rockville Hospital and later transported to St. Francis Hospital to be treated for injuries.

The driver of an Infiniti Sedan, later identified as 42-year-old Todd Bryden, of Tolland, was transported to Rockville Hospital where he was treated and released. 

Police said they are continuing to investigate and no charges have been filed. Officers ask anyone that witnessed the crash to contact Vernon Police at (860) 872-9126.

Route 83 was closed in both directions at Merline Road for several hours. It reopened shortly before 4 p.m.
