Thunderstorm Activity Decreasing as Storms Move Through State

What to Know

  • Thunderstorms start early in the morning and last through midday - around 2 or 3 p.m.
  • Weather improves by afternoon
  • Temperatures will be cooler Friday, with highs expected in the 80s

The NBC Connecticut First Alert Weather team of meteorologists has issued a First Alert a for thunderstorms on Friday.

As of Thursday afternoon, a flash flood watch was in effect for the Connecticut shoreline.

Scattered thunderstorms were moving through the state Friday morning and into midday.  The severe weather wass expected statewide.  Those storms have the potential to produce localized flooding in urban locations.

By 3 p.m., the threat is expected to be over.

A front crossing Connecticut will bring in cooler and drier air for the weekend but trigger storms as it crosses the state.
