A Florida woman whose 3-year-old son was found wandering in the cold in West Haven last week is facing her first court appearance in the case.
Thirty-year-old April Pardy of Jacksonville, Fla., is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Milford Superior Court. She's charged with risk of injury to a minor and allowing an unsupervised child in a public place.
West Haven police say a local officer found Pardy's son wandering on a street in below-freezing temperatures wearing only a diaper and blanket March 27. Officers say they later found Pardy sleeping in a filthy motel room with her three other children.
Connecticut officials took custody of the four children.
Pardy couldn't be reached for comment. There's no phone listing for her and it's not clear if she has a lawyer.
