If you're like most people, grocery shopping does not top your list of fun things to do, but mention the words "free chocolate" and it's different story.
Natural grocer Whole Foods has tapped into this concept with the annual Chocolate Fest, which starts tonight at their store on Raymond Road in West Hartford.
White chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, samplings of all types at assorted "chocolate bars" will be available from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for FREE.
There will also be truffles and handmade chocolate mousse whipped up by the store's catering department. Don't like the fishy taste of seafood?Try a chocolate rub on Arctic Char (a fish similar to salmon).
"It usually ties into Valentine's Day," said Cynthia Bartos, Whole Foods Marketing Team Leader."It's a great way to introduce people to different types of chocolate and to demonstrate how they can be used in fun and creative ways."
And if you miss out on the tasting tonight, don't worry, Whole Foods is also holding Chocolate Fest at its two other Hartford-area locations.
- Saturday, Feb. 6, noon to 2 p.m., Bishop's Corner store, 340 N. Main Street, West Hartford

Sure, you're being tricked into actually going to the grocery store, where you'll probably be reminded that you have no food in your house, but this is the sweetest kind of trickery there is.
