Frost Advisory Issued for Tonight, Tuesday Morning

Frost advisory for Tuesday Oct 11

A frost advisory is in effect for Tuesday morning for all of the state, except for the immediate shoreline, as winds go calm and temperatures dip into the 30s late Monday night and into Tuesday morning.

Scattered frost is possible and some outdoor plants that are not protected or brought indoors could be damaged by frost.

While the actual air temperature may only fall into the middle 30s, frost is still possible.

Air temperature is measured two meters off the ground.

Given that the air cools from the ground up at night, the temperatures at the surface near the blades of grass could be closer to 32 degrees.

The average first frost in the Hartford area is this week, so the timing of this frost potential is right on par with what is typical.
