Gov. Lamont Announces 2 Administrative Changes for Start of New Term

NBC Connecticut

A week after winning re-election, Governor Ned Lamont has announced two administrative changes for the start of his new term.

Lamont said Jonathan Dach will be appointed chief of staff and Natalie Braswell will be appointed as general counsel.

According to Lamont's office, Paul Mounds, who was the governor's chief of staff since February 2020, and Nora Dannehy, who served as general counsel since March 2021, have each decided to step down from their roles.

Officials said Mounds and Dannehy both decided that at the conclusion of the governor's first term, it would be an appropriate time to make the change.

“During my first term in office, one thing that immediately became clear is how critical the roles of chief of staff and general counsel are when it comes to providing effective leadership as governor, and I will forever be thankful to Paul Mounds and Nora Dannehy for the time, dedication, guidance, and excellence that they have given to me and to the people of Connecticut,” Governor Ned Lamont said in part in a statement.

Prior to becoming chief of staff, Mounds served as Lamont's chief operating officer.

Dach is currently the governor's policy director and Braswell serves as state comptroller.

"I am fully aware that these roles require a 24/7 commitment, often at the expense of personal lives and relationships, and both Paul and Nora have gone above and beyond what their duties required. I’ve worked alongside Jonny and Natalie for quite some time now, and they both have the experience and proficiency to fill these roles with a seamless transition," Lamont added in part.

Additional staffing changes are expected to be announced in the days to come.

Lamont will receive the oath of office and will start his second term on January 4.
