Groups Seek Action Over Sexual Harassment Complaints Against Hartford Police Dept.

Activists are calling on city officials to take action after allegations of sexual harassment were lodged against the Hartford Police Department.

The rally Tuesday was held as the Commission on the Status of Hartford Women met with the city's human resource director.

The commission criticized the slow pace of the investigation into Officer Kelly Baerga's complaint, and questioned how the city plans to address harassment more widely.

Baerga, who is the city's LGBTQ liaison, says she was subjected to "derogatory, overt, inappropriate comments" and homophobic statements by her former supervisor.

Another female officer says in a separate complaint she was transferred for rejecting a superior officer's sexual advances.

Police Chief David Rosado says the department will hire a national firm to do a review of the department.
