Hearing for Shooting Suspect in Pembroke Postponed

Plymouth District Court judge postpones shooting hearing

A Connecticut man suspected of shooting a Pembroke woman outside her home will stay behind bars for at least another week, a Plymouth District Court judge ruled today.

Authorities say the 25-year-old shot Pembroke dance instructor Marybeth Banks several times in her car on March 23. She is recovering at a Boston hospital.

Dorian Membreno, accused of being hired to murder Banks, is now scheduled to have his dangerousness hearing on Monday after his defense lawyer requested to see police reports that hadn't been released.

Police say Membreno had been hired to kill Banks. Connecticut prosecutors say Membreno was hired by one of Banks' former boyfriends. He is currently being held without bail, and has pleaded not guilty to charges including attempted murder.
